Circular wind energy research
26 August 2025
Although the majority of a wind turbine is recycled, composite blades remain difficult to process. WIN‑CE develops a novel chemical process to fully reuse both the glass fibers and the resin matrix from the blades. This enables the recovery and reintegration of valuable raw materials, contributing to a sustainable and circular wind energy sector.
As a player in sustainable energy and a member of the Industrial Advisory Board, Elicio is actively involved in the innovative WIN‑CE project, which is dedicated to the circular recycling of wind turbine blades.
WIN‑CE is a collaboration between VITO, KU Leuven, Sirris and other partners, supported by VLAIO and the spearhead clusters Catalisti and De Blauwe Cluster. The project runs until 29 September 2027. More information is available on the Catalisti website.
