Students visit Bassenge construction site

16 March 2022

We welcomed some great visitors in Bassenge last week! Law students at four different schools (EPHEC Brussels, UCLL Leuven, HELMo Liège and HOGENT) came to check out the future Bassenge wind energy park where nine turbines are being erected.

Their visit started with a tour of the site. Our construction manager, Jurgen Gruyaert, showed the delegation around and provided his expert advice whilst the students could come up close and personal with a turbine and its several components.

Next, Frederik Devos and Bruno Claessens talked them through the technical and commercial aspects of building a wind turbine park, including processes that require legal due diligence. Even though these matters seem to kind of disappear in the background, it is exactly this part of the job we will rely on the current generation of law students to support us in realizing our ambitions for the future.

In order to attract this new generation, to us at Elicio it is important to give these students the opportunity to get acquainted with the wind energy sector - which indeed proves to be a hit. We witnessed first-hand how enthusiastic and interested they are in renewable energy. Who knows, we might actually welcome back one or even more of these young students after they graduated.
